Barbara Scott Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 6, 2026.
Barbara Ann Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, North Carolina, on February 28, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on May 4, 1955, at Chanute Air Force Base in Champaign County, Illinois, to the late Donald A. Scott and Doris (Noble) Scott. She lived a life filled with love, warmth, and kindness.

Before relocating to Jacksonville, NC, she spent most of her life in Somersworth, NH where she was an office manager at a car dealership.

Beyond her work, she delighted in cooking and exploring new recipes, a joy she often shared with those around her. Barbara was known for her caring nature and her dedication to creating a welcoming home that was always clean with a fridge stocked full for any visitor who might drop by.

Her love for her dogs was a testament to her nurturing spirit, and they brought her immense joy throughout her life. Barbara's love extended beyond her human family to her cherished dogs, who were constant companions throughout her life.

Barbara leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her son, Adam Doyle (Quyen) of Somersworth, New Hampshire; her daughter, Jamie Doyle, (Richard Tate) of Springvale, Maine and Snickers, who just happens to be a cat; her 7 cherished grandchildren, Brianna and Even Tate and Emily, Kaylee, Chloe, Tanner, and Sophie Doyle. She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Scott and Dora Fisichella, and her brothers, Billy Scott (Sue Riggs) and Jim Scott and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Scott (Betsy Gleason).

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will be abundant, and perhaps a few of her favorite dishes will make an appearance.

In these moments of reflection, we remember Barbara Ann Scott as a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
