Aunt Barbara was a wonderful, and kind woman. She ALWAYS made one feel welcome and loved and her brand of kindness was rare. She was genuinely a good person from the inside out in all directions. When I visited as a kid, there was a huge sense of comfort and warmth that pervaded the house. I remember the fires on cold winter mornings and the wonderful meals she would make for the family. Once, while riding my bike I fell and severely cut my hand. Aunt Barbara leaped into action, comforted me and sped me to the hospital. She handled challenges with aplomb. My father, her first cousin, told us kids many stories about their growing up together in the country and how nice she was even as a girl.

NO matter how long it was between visits it always felt as if I had "come home". When people speak about a "great lady" Aunt Barbara was one such woman. I didn't see her often but in my heart she was always a loving presence.

God bless you Aunt Barbara. I know you have been welcomed by so many people who left before you, loved you and were waiting for you. Safe journey. I love you.

What a wonderful obituary. I consider myself one of her "adopted" kids and always referred to her as "Mom" Shader. Her, her husband Robert and kids Bob (my best friend), Debbie, Roxanne and Tina welcomed me into their home when I was 14 years old, 44 years ago, as part of their own and I will be eternally grateful and honored to be thought of as such. One of the greatest compliments to give a person is what a great parent they were and Barbara and Robert were both fantastic as witnessed by their kind, loving, generous, witty and humorous children. Barbara, Robert, Bob, Debbie and Tina will be missed dearly but the memories they all have given me will be, and are, treasured forever. God bless them all and heaven is better with them in it.

I saw Barb crocheting the one day in her room. I then brought in a red, white, and blue blanket that I had crocheted shortly after my grandma taught me to show her. Barb´s eyes lit up and her beautiful smile shined. She was always so appreciative and made me feel so loved. She had experienced a lot of family loss, but her heart never ceased to give love you others. I miss her dearly.
