Barbara Silverman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel - Delray Beach on Mar. 13, 2026.
Barbara Silverman, a woman of remarkable strength and resilience, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Boca Raton, Florida at the age of 87. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Barbara lived a life defined by love, dedication, and joy.

Barbara found profound happiness when she married her beloved husband, Al Silverman. Together they enjoyed traveling the world, socializing with many friends, and building their loving family.

Barbara was a true fighter. Despite numerous health and mobility issues, surgeries, and rehabilitation periods - which often led friends and family to say she is the "best patient ever" - she was always determined to maintain her matriarch status of her family. Barbara had a vibrant personality and cherished everyone around her. She loved playing cards and Mahjong with her friends and family. After moving to Boca Raton, Barbara and Al became active members of the Woodfield Country Club community, attending card games and enjoying the camaraderie of meals with fellow members.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Al Silverman; devoted daughters, Michelle Schweibel (Howie), Randi Rubzin (Todd), and Mindy Kraft (Howard); grandchildren Scott Rubzin (Lacey), Emily Winepol (Spencer), Doug Schweibel (Marisa), Darren Schweibel, and Drew Schweibel; and great-grandchildren Calvin, Claire, and Zoe who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister Susan Gottlieb and brother Michael Garfinkel.

Barbara will be remembered for her caring nature, unwavering love for her family, and enduring strength. Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort to all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 9:30 am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida 33484. That will be followed by a proceeding at the cemetery in Eternal Light Memorial Gardens at 10:45 am at 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473. Shiva will be held on Sunday, March 15 from 1-7 pm at Alan Silverman's home, 3768 Coventry Lane, Boca Raton, Florida 33496 in Woodfield Country Club.

In lieu of any flowers, gifts or arrangements, those wishing to honor Barbara with a memorial contribution are kindly encouraged to consider a donation to the Tisch MS Research Center of New York (https://Tischms.org).
