Barbara L. Simon (née Danford) age 83 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
Barbara was born on December 9, 1940, to Robert and Olga Danford in Hutchinson, Kansas. In 1962 she married Vaughn Simon; they lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Maryland, Connecticut, Virginia, California, Tennessee, Alabama, and moved to Barrington, Illinois where they have lived since 1983. Barbara was an active member of the United Methodist Church and PEO sisterhood. She received her BS Home Economics from Kansas State University. Barbara was an avid seamstress, accomplished pianist, gracious hostess and dear friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with Vaughn.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Vaughn; daughters Greta (Joe) Strong and Sarah (Kevin) Diamond; granddaughters Elizabeth (Lee) Diamond-Engelman, Katherine Diamond and Jennifer Diamond; sister Dianne (Terry) Treadwell and brother Rex (Sara) Danford; 5 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 10:30am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12pm at Barrington United Methodist Church 98 IL-62, Barrington, IL 60010. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington Illinois to follow.
