Barbara Smiles Obituary

Barbara J. Smiles
Died on November 7, 2025 following a brief illness, at the age of 70 years. She was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL born to Jean Elizabeth Smiles (nee Ramsay) and James Paterson Smiles on December 7, 1954. She leaves to cherish her memory two sisters Pat Ziebart of Hoffman Estates, IL and Sharon (Ray) Stukel of Joliet. Four nieces and nephews Mike (Meagan) Stukel Brian (Emily Stiehl) Ziebart, Katie (Ryan Freerksen) Stukel and Sarah (Michael) Sicher. She will be missed by six great-nieces and nephews Elinor, Wesley and Austin Sicher, Theodore and Sophie Ziebart, Lucas Stukel and lifelong best friend Marie (Steve) Quarcini. Barb graduated from Joliet West High School, University of Saint Francis and John Marshall Law School. As an attorney she served Will County for several years before moving into private practice. Barb was the devoted owner of 3 golden retrievers. She dearly loved her dogs and memorials in her honor to Paws Up 4 Rescue (pawsup4rescue.org) in Joliet or the American Cancer Society for pancreatic research (cancer.org) would be most welcome. As per Barb's wishes, private services and burial were held November 24, 2025. Funeral arrangements conducted by Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory.
