Barbara Ann Smith, 76, of Washington Twp. NJ, formerly from Cheltenham, and Aldan, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Legacy
Barbara was a loving, caring and very generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a 1963 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill, PA, where she served as Vice President of her class. After high school, Barbara enjoyed traveling and worked as a secretary for First Pennsylvania Bank where she met and fell in love with her husband, Jim. Always a gracious host, Barbara treasured being around her family and friends, cooking for them and relishing in their company. She welcomed everyone into her home with a warm smile, a cold drink, and a seat at her table. Best known for her creativity, craftiness, and quirky humor, Barbara always brought the fun to any gathering. Her handmade gifts and decorations have been adored by family and friends for seasons on end. Later, Barbara enjoyed her years working for Cheltenham Township's Parks and Recreation Department where she utilized her talents to spread cheer throughout the community. Barbara's life-long passion for gardening created landscapes for all to enjoy, especially at her cherished home in Sea Isle City, NJ, where she and Jim spent most of their retirement surrounded by their children, grandchildren, extended family and friends, and the sunsets they loved so dearly. Throughout her entire life, Barbara touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her legacy will be one of family, hospitality, beauty and above all, love.
Family
She is the beloved wife of 55 wonderful years to James H. Smith. Devoted mother of David H. Smith (Heather), Daniel V. Smith (Rania), and Susan E. Cunningham (William). Adored Nana of Caitlin, Michael, Gretchen, Owen, Colin, and Matthew. Daughter of the late Margaret and Harry Black. Dear sister of Margaret "Peggy" (Richard), Michael (Roberta), Stephen (Jean), and Marybeth (Steve). She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Sunday, August 28th from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and Monday, August 29th from 9:00AM to 10:15AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home-(Washington Twp. Location), 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in the St. Peter & Paul Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080. Interment will be at a later date.
