Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ms. Barbara Faye Smith, 82, of Oxford, Alabama, will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Barbara will be laid to rest in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Barbara passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Piedmont Healthcare. Barbara was a loving daughter, sister and aunt, and was a cherished family member. She was known for her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and lifelong dedication to caring for others. A devoted educator, Barbara was a long-tenured teacher at Munford Elementary School. Barbara was a graduate of Jacksonville State University and valued education deeply, carrying that commitment throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church, formerly Norwood Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended until her mother's health declined. During that time, Barbara devoted herself to caring for her mother with love and selflessness, a role she embraced with grace and devotion. Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, Joseph Alton Smith and Mildred White Smith; her brother, David Smith; her nephew, Eric Smith; and her sisters-in-law, Sue Smith and Cindy Smith. Barbara is survived by her brothers, Wayne (Rita) Smith and Rickey Smith; her nieces and nephews, Angie McIntosh, Jennifer (Brandon) Williams, Olivia (Mike) Shott, Michael Smith, Kim (Nathan) Langner, Kelly Smith, and Greg (Heather) Smith; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly. Barbara's life was one of service, faith, and quiet devotion. Her legacy will live on through the family she loved and the students she taught, along with the countless lives she touched along the way.
