Barbara Jean (Laymance) Smith, 55, of Jonesboro, formerly of Texas City, TX, passed away on January 16, 2026 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Texas City, TX, where she spent the majority of her life, on October 12, 1970 to Glyn Lawrson Laymance and Mary Lester (Lausch) Laymance.
Barbara spent her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and recently was employed with Door Dash. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and watching movies. She loved playing RuneScape, reaching an achievement level of 99. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and catching up with acquaintances on Facebook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glyn and Mary Laymance.
Barbara is survived by her children: Kenneth Smith, Mary Smith, Jonathan Smith, Josh McNees, Jacob McNees, and Dorothy McNees; her brother, Raymond Laymance; sisters, Yvonne Laymance, Debra Laymance, and Donna Given; grandchildren, Sabrina Jackson and Jude McNees; several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
