Barbara Stopper passed away peacefully in her home in West Bradford Township, Pennsylvania on the morning of April 15th.

Born on September 13th, 1939, in Plattsburgh, New York, Barbara grew up close by the Canadian border and Lake Champlain, on a farming property, in Rouses Point, the daughter of Evelyn and Lawrence Delano. Barbara spoke fondly of her old fashioned, rural childhood in upstate New York, and traveled back to visit with her own family regularly for most of her life.

Barbara attended the State University Of New York At Plattsburgh, where she graduated The College Of Education in 1961. Barbara married a Pennsylvania man, Raymond Stopper, in August of 1963, and the young couple moved to Syracuse, where she taught school, while Ray attended Graduate School at Syracuse University.

Barb and Ray started a family in New York with the birth of their first daughter in 1966, and spent some time there, busy with school and work, before moving to Downingtown in 1970. They had a second daughter in 1971, and Barb became a full time home maker for her young family for a short spell. Barb returned to work in 1975, when she took a job teaching first Grade with the Downingtown School District, where she stayed for 20 more years, until her retirement in 1995.

Barb and Ray moved to their home in West Bradford Township in 1974, where they lived together, raised their family, and where Barb stayed on, with brief interruptions, after Ray's death in 2012, until her own recent passing.

Barbara loved her home and her yard, and was always busy gardening with her rose bushes, azaleas, and other plants and flowers. She enjoyed baking and was a great pie maker. She was always on the go, loved working out at her gym, and was known by some as the energizer bunny. Barb was a dog lover, and always had a pet in her house, and by her side, right to the end.

It is well known to friends and family that her favorite color was pink. She enjoyed antiquing, shopping the Amish country stores, and games of all kinds with friends and family. She was also a formidable leg wrestler.

Barbara Stopper was a good neighbor, a beloved teacher, a loyal wife, a trusted friend, and a loving mother. She will be missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her sister, Lynda Cote, her daughters Sharan and Susan, and her son in law Mark.
