Ms. Barbara Fann Thompson, 76, former resident of Columbia, died November 24, 2021, in Bentonville, Arkansas, where she had moved in September of 2020 to undergo cancer treatment.
Funeral services for Ms. Thompson will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Born September 23, 1945 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Fann and Margie Crowell Fann. She was a retired administrative assistant to the President of United Auto Workers in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Courtney Colbert (Brandon) Sampley and Travis James Thompson both of Bentonville, Arkansas; sister, Janice Marie Fann, Vicki Fann (Hilton J.) Brumfield and Stephanie Fann (David) Massey all of Columbia; grandchildren, Julian Anthony Terry, Jr. and Emily Quinn Terry both of Fayetteville, Arkansas; nieces and nephews, McKinsey Conkwright, Lauren Cook, Hayden Blackketter and Britton Brumfield; numerous special cousins, and most of all, her faithful furry companion Rhett. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Benny Gordon Fann.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ed Crowell, Joe Roberson, Lyn Stinson, Hilton Jerome Brumfield, Britton Brumfield, and Julian Anthony Terry, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles David Massey, Harold & Reba Meador, Joann Belcher, Neda Brickner, Linda McClain, Vera Collier, Karyl Holden, Beverly Murrey, and Jecinda Johnson.
