Barbara Jean Watkins, 76, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025. She was born on October 10, 1948, to Annie Elizabeth Stevens and Herman Brunson.
Barbara was a proud Richmond native and graduate of Richmond Public Schools. She dedicated her life to raising her six children and a grandson and later worked for many years at the Jefferson Hotel.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her beloved husband, Harold “Red” Watkins Sr., and her six siblings. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Alfred (Sharon), Harold II (Arvat), Stacy (Brigette), Terrence (Chanda), Wanda (Kevin), Charita (Donte), and bonus daughter, Tawanda; 17 grandchildren, including three who were especially devoted, (Alfred, Rodney, and Terron) as well as a host of great-grandchildren, her best friend, Gloria “Hawk” Hawkins, one devoted nephew Willie Stevens, four sisters-in-law, godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday at Metropolitan Baptist Church 1021 Halifax Street in Petersburg.
