Columbus
Barbara Ann White, 82, residing in Columbus, passed away early Monday morning, Dec. 2, 2024, at Sunrise of Dublin Memory Care after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Barbara was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Sandusky to the late Amos and Vera (Roesch) White.
She graduated from Sandusky High School in the class of 1961. After graduation, Barbara took the train to Washington, D.C. to work. Upon arrival, she moved into The Evangeline Residence, a home for working women, where she quickly became friends with several other women. These women would become lifelong friends and would enjoy traveling together both domestically and abroad.
She worked as a budget analyst for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she was respected and rose through the ranks. After The Evangeline, Barbara bought a house in the suburbs of Maryland, where she lived for several years. Upon her retirement of almost 40 years, she moved back to Ohio and built her dream home.
Barbara enjoyed doing many things. To name a few, she was a great photographer, good cook, ceramics enthusiast, avid reader, painter, sewer, cat lover, and gardener. Barbara became a "master gardener," which takes much study, hands-on work, and countless volunteer hours. She was a member of Newark Garden Club and Herb Society. Above all the things she loved to do, her many friendships were the most important to her. She was also known for being very generous to family as well as many charities.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Gerri Wyse of Xenia; sister-in-law, Sue White of Clarkston, Michigan; several nephews and nieces, David White of Clermont, Florida, Teri Pennock of Galena, Scott White of Saline, Michigan, Suzanne Stuck of Sandusky, Jackie Jones of Fairborn, Jill Winn of Upper Arlington, Rob White of South Carolina, Jeff White of Huron, Eli White of South Carolina, Nicole Barnhouse of Norwalk and Tracy White of Sandusky; and many great nieces and nephews as well.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her three brothers, Donald White, Ramon White and Robert White; and her nephew, Chris White.
