Barbara Jane Wolf, age 74, of Hays, Kansas passed away in her home on Sunday, December 31, 2023. She was born July 7, 1949 in Hays, Kansas to Alvin and Anna Mary (Pfeifer) Fisher. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1967. On November 23, 1968, she married Don Wolf in Ellis. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2011.
Barbara was primarily a homemaker until her children were grown. She worked at Yuasa Exide for many years with Don until they made the change to Hays Medical Center where he worked in maintenance and she worked in central sterile then subsequently as a valet parking attendant. Barb loved caring for others, and later worked at Via Christi Village as a van driver, taking residents to their appointments. She was a patient and loving daughter and helped care for her Dad, Alvin, in his final years. Barbara was known for her bright smile and fun-loving personality and sass, love of family, playing cards, singing, polka dancing and being a great hostess. She believed in the more the merrier when family gathered and made the best iced tea!
Barbara is survived by a son, Jarrod Wolf of Wichita; her daughter, Jami Hespe of Wichita, brothers: Eugene (Beth) Fisher of Hays, Raymond (Joleen) Fisher of Hays, Paul (Danita) Fisher of Ellis; sisters: Mary Alice (Bernie) Wiesner of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Gin (Tony) Erbert of McPherson and Colleen (Rod) King of Ellis; grandchildren, Ciara Hespe (and husband Abe Fitzpatrick) of Tualatin, Oregon, Brandon Hespe of Wichita, Abbigail Wolf of Hays, Dominick Wolf of Wichita and Wyatt Wolf of Wichita as well as two great grandchildren, Henry and Eleanor Fitzpatrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Peter Fisher.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024 with a rosary service at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis.
Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be used at the discretion of the family.
