Walker Funeral HomeBarbara Jo York-Riley passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born March 24, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia to Donald J and Marcella York. Barbara worked for Albany Head Start where she was the Social Service Aide, she received her Child Development associate’s degree and then was the teacher for ten years after her service for Head Start. She then went to work for the Department of Corrections at St. Joseph as a correctional Officer for seven years until her health was failing her. She is preceded in death by her father Donald and mother Marcella and a sister, Amy Kathryn York Green, Barbara was especially blessed with three wonderful children that she was always very proud of and a husband that was always by her side. She survived by her husband, Steve and her daughters Marci Knisley (Brett) of Albany, Missouri, Stephani Smith (Todd) of Gillette, Wyoming, and a son Levi J. Riley (Courtney) of Missouri, her grandchildren who she loved spending time with, Loren Knisley, Lexi Knisley, Lucy Knisley, Lainey Knisley, Corbin Smith, Olivia Smith, her brother Emmett York and sister-in-law Diane Stanwood of Washington, her nieces and nephew and cousins, and her wonderful friends. Her body will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will take place on September 5, 2026, at Albany Community Center in Missouri from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., (200 W Rigney St, Albany, MO 64402) Part of her ashes will be spread down the Ballford river where it goes to Virginia to the Atlantic Ocean. Memorials and condolences can be sent in care of the family to Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, WY 82716.
