Barclay Edward Hills Jr.

Barclay Edward Hills, Jr., aged 78, of East Windsor, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 surrounded by his loving family in Chesapeake, VA. Born on September 11, 1947, in Holmdel, NJ, Barclay lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and an unyielding spirit that inspired all who knew him.

Barclay was a proud alumnus of Red Bank High School in Red Bank, NJ, and furthered his education at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. His intellectual curiosity and determination led him into a successful career as a computer programming consultant, where he became renowned for his expertise in mainframe systems. Barclay's work left an indelible mark on the industry, where his contributions were celebrated by colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Barclay was a man of varied interests. He had an abiding love for folk music, which resonated with his independent spirit and appreciation for storytelling. A true aficionado of classic automobiles, he cherished Volvo Amazon cars and was an active member of Volvo Sports America. His love for Norwegian Elkhounds and Norwegian folklore was evident in his dedicated involvement with the Garden State Norwegian Elkhound Club, as well as his volunteer work with Elkhound Rescue.

Barclay was a man who valued family above all. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Barclay Sr. and Ida Hills, and his adored wife, Sharon Hills. He is survived by his cherished son, Barclay Hills, III, and his grandson, Ayden Hills, both of whom carry forward his legacy of strength and resilience. He is also remembered fondly by his cousins, Holley Miniter and Barbara "Suzie" Knox, who shared many treasured memories with him.

Though no formal services will be held, Barclay will be laid to rest privately next to his beloved wife and family, as per his wishes. His life was a testament to the power of determination, independence, and love, and his memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
