Barry Lee Burton, 86, born Oct. 22, 1939, passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, 2026, at his home in Colleyville, Tx, with his wife, Catherine, by his side. Barry and Catherine were married in California in June of 1964. They had a son, Brian Burton, born in 1965, who later died. Barry’s early years were extremely active with scouting, which resulted in him becoming an Eagle Scout and earning the “Order of the Arrow at the age of 15. He was also involved and excelled in football and track. He graduated from high school in Alice, Texas, and went on to graduate from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, Texas. After moving to California, Barry began his professional career as an accountant. Later, he and Catherine moved to Dallas, where he eventually established his own CPA firm, including a real estate brokerage company. During this time, he spent many years serving the Catholic church as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and attended the University of Dallas, where he became a Dominican Lay Pastor. In addition, he established Anchor Line Ministries, which provided nonprofit accounting services to churches and religious organizations. Barry enjoyed various activities in his free time, like fishing, hunting, scuba diving, and traveling to the Mediterranean biblical nations. He found great joy in writing poetry and was called the “barbed-wire bard”. A great part of his life was spent studying God's word and reading the dozens of various Bibles he had collected in his lifetime. Finally, in his later years, he assisted in supporting his wife’s private practice in family Christian counseling up until his passing.
