Barry Wells Culmer

Barry Culmer 1923 - 2010 On the beautiful morning of March 27, 2010, Barry passed away as a result of congestive heart disease. He was born on February 28, 1923, the only child of H. Wells and Davina C. Culmer. His grandfather, H.L.A. Culmer, was a renowned artist whose paintings are housed in the Utah Governor's Mansion. His father's paintings are housed in the Smithsonian Institute and other institutions. Barry was very proud of his heritage. He was a member of the LDS Church. He received his Eagle Scout Award, graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah. He served in WWII and was a proud veteran. He was an independent insurance agent most of his professional life. Barry retired and spent the winters in Mesa, Arizona. Barry married Delores B. Carman and she survives him as well as his daughter, Vicki (Charles) Madden, Salt Lake City. Barry also is survived by three stepsons: Ken (Paula) Carman, Tempe, AZ; Trent (Marla) Carman, Centennial, CO; and Curtis (Pam) Carman, West Bountiful. There are also nine step-grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Aubri, Nick, AJ, Ryley, Cory, Brynn, Caroline, Cole, and Lainy. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12:00 noon in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. &" N" Street.
