Barry Allan Fishler

Barry Allan Fishler passed away at Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 73. He was the son of the late Elizabeth and Joseph Fishler.

Barry attended Longfellow Elementary School and DeVilbiss High School. During his high school years, he excelled in athletics. As a discus thrower, Barry achieved All City honors in 1969 and 1970.

In 1970 he was awarded an athletic scholarship to the University of Toledo. He continued his success at U.T. by winning the MAC discus championship in 1972, 1973 and 1975. Following these achievements he qualified for NCAA championships. Barry also was a sprinter and participated in handball, judo, boxing and numerous other sports.

Following his graduation from the University of Toledo in 1975, earning a degree in Physical Education, Barry worked for the Chrysler Corporation from 1977 until his retirement in 2007.

Barry was an avid animal lover. Numerous stray animals were welcomed into his home. At one point he took care of 11 dogs.

Barry was a very religious man. He lived his life according to the Orthodox Jewish tradition and attended daily services at his synagogue.

Barry is survived by his son, Adrian Fishler; brother, David Fishler; and sister, Carole Louy.

Funeral services were held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Robert H. WICK/Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Rd., with Rabbi Zev Garsek officiating. Interment, Eagle Point Cemetery, Rossford, Ohio.
