To know Barry was to love him. I meet Barry in 2004; when I became an employee for the BBB. For many years Barry stood in place of my father. From the life lessons to the professional lessons; I will never forget. Barry taught me the meaning of having "tough skin". I am proud to say he was my mentor and my guide. It was with his dedication and determination to the BBB that made me want to do the same.
To the family I send my deepest condolences. Know that the body is at rest and Barry's soul lives through you all. May got grant you all peace, comfort & strength at this time.
I love you all.

May the gift of your tears today and in the days to come, bring comfort and healing to your heart.

Barry was a great man and colleague that we could all lean on when we were in need of sage advice, or a good story! Condolences from BBB Santa Barbara.

I will always remember Barry with fondness and great respect. We worked together on several committees through the years. I know him to love his family and BBB. He was someone you always wanted to be around, he tackled the hardest jobs with integrity and humor. To his family- I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am so sad at the news of Barry's passing. He was one of the people I most looked forward to seeing at meetings and on committees we served on together. We almost never agreed on idealogy; and there were few I would rather sit with for a drink after... I feel blessed to have called him a colleague and a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Rene and his family. Rest in peace.

I met Barry three times...each at a BBB event. In Denver, we talked shop for a moment, but it was important I told him how much we appreciated his daughter's expertise helping our BBB. He paused, smiled as he nodded, then we said goodbye, until next time.

I finally got to meet Barry at the Assembly in New Orleans. Before this, I only had the opportunity to speak with him on the phone. I found that we had shared interests and concerns regarding the BBB, and I also recognized that he had a deep love for the BBB and the people who work and serve to make the marketplace better for everyone.

Although I did not personally know Barry, I have heard so many wonderful things and positive thoughts about your husband, father and grandfather.
What struck me most was this: BBB was important to Barry, but family was #1, as it always should be.
My deepest condolences to all of you and blessings for what Barry left behind - a legacy of integrity.

I remember the first time I met Barry. He wanted me to work with his BBB and took me to lunch to discuss it. It took me a very short time to realize that Barry was not going to try to impress me with "Politically Correct" jargon, but instead was a for real man who spoke from his heart. I had the pleasure of seeing and talking with Barry many times after that initial meeting and I always enjoyed his authenticity and admired his genuine care and concern for me personally.
God Bless you Barry,
John

To Megan and all who loved Mr. Goggin. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. One of my favorite quotes is "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal." May God grant you comfort and peace during this most difficult time. Blessings always...

I had the privilege of overlapping time with Barry on the CBBB Board of Directors. He had a wonderful, booming voice. When he spoke, everyone listened and not only because of his booming voice. We knew that what he had to say would be based on a rich knowledge of BBB's mission and history and would be informed by his wisdom and judgement. Barry was a fine, caring man who served his family, community and nation. I was blessed to know him.

To be able to call Barry a colleague was nothing short of an honor. The respect and kindness that he showed me early in my career will never be forgotten. His influence reached far beyond NE California. To Barry's family: I pray fond memories of Barry's life of service, compassion and humor will overtake the grief felt at this time.

A colleague, friend and much, much more for nearly 40 years. As Shakespeare's Hamlet remarked: "He was a man. Take him for all in all. I shall not look upon his like again." Fair winds and a following sea, Barry Goggin.

I talked with Barry almost every week for 25 years. We talked BBB, family, and life. He was one of the fairest people I have ever met. His passion for the BBB was only exceeded by his love of Rene and his kids. In meetings, Barry filled the room and his voice and laugh were a joy to hear. He was a good friend and I will miss him

I talked with Barry every week for almost 25 years. I will never find anyone who is as fair and kind as Barry. He treated everyone with respect and I never heard him say anything negative about anyone. You could fight with Barry on an issue, but after a decision was made, you sit down and have a drink and Barry always supported the decision of the group. When he walked into the room, you knew he was there. Not just because of his size, but Barry's presence filled the room. He will always be remembered for that voice, one could listen to and just know you were listening to the voice of God. Barry, my good friend, I will miss you. With all that said, my thoughts are with Rene and the kids. One thing I learned from all those phone calls was that no matter how important the BBB was, it wasn't any near important as Rene and his kids were. His love and enjoyment of family was unparalleled.
