Barry Lee Lucas, 68, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was born March 9, 1957, in East St. Louis, IL.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley "Dian" (nee Burcham) Lucas.
He is survived by his loving family: his father, George Lucas; his devoted wife of nearly 42 years, Evelyn "Lyn" (nee Hemmer) Lucas, whom he married on August 27, 1983; his son, Cody Lucas of Troy, IL; his daughter, Lindsey (Greg) Gammon of Collinsville, IL; and his cherished grandchildren, Avery, Millie, and Charlotte Gammon.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Barry retired after a fulfilling career building and fixing with precision and care. He had an unmatched talent for repairing anything and was always the first to lend a hand. Whether remodeling homes with his son and son-in-law or tinkering with vehicles, Barry's hands were rarely idle.
Barry loved spending time on the water and outdoors. He especially enjoyed boating with family and friends, and sharing his need for speed with his grandkids-whether on the lake or riding 4-wheelers. His deep love for animals was evident to all, and dogs seemed naturally drawn to him. He will be remembered for his selflessness, his generosity, and the love he poured into his family, friends and every animal he met.
Music was a constant presence in Barry's life, and he took pride in the accomplishments of those he loved most. He was endlessly proud of his wife, Lyn; his son, Cody, for serving as a canine police officer in Troy, IL; and his daughter, Lindsey, for her work as a veterinarian.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Partners for Pets and will be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
