Mr. Maness was born in Sanford, NC April 12, 1954 to Floyd Phillip Maness and Julia Cockman Maness. He loved to grow his garden, fish, go to turkeys shoots, and NASCAR races and was a big Dale Earnhardt fan. Mr. Maness served in the US Army and was a member of the US Army shooting team. He was a painter by trade and painted a lot of the old historic homes in Charleston, SC. He had a big personality and loved to joke around and laugh. He will be greatly missed because there isn't anyone else quite like him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother: Randy Maness; sister: Phyllis Sweat.
Barry is survived by son: Steven Barry Maness (Christine)of Seagrove, NC; grandson: Tyler Maness; granddaughter: Rebecca Maness; brothers: Mike Maness (Flora), Don Maness; sister: Vicky Phillips; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at Pine Rest Cemetery in Robbins, NC, 2:00 PM, Sunday January 22, 2023, with Pastor Steven Maness officiating. In case of rain, the service will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home. Family will receive friends after the service at Crossroads Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
