Barry Andrew Payne

Barry Andrew Payne, 58, passed away Wednesday February 1, 2023 of heart disease.
He was a 7th generation Georgian, born at South Fulton Hospital in 1964. He attended Lake City Elementary, G.P. Babb Junior High and graduated Forest Park High School Barry attended West Georgia College and established an insurance agency in Forest Park before enlisting in the Navy during Desert Storm. While serving, he was based in Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico before his last base in Maine. Following his honorable discharge, he began a career with Ford Motor Company which lasted until they closed the Atlanta plant and relocated it to Louisville, Kentucky. After the plant closing, Barry pursued a career in HVAC industry and worked for both public and private companies.
Barry is blessed to be survived by 4 children Robert Austin and his wife Brie Payne-Jones, residing in Boca Raton, Florida; Jordan Leigh Payne and her partner Anthony Cooper, residing in Lake City, Georgia, as well as Madison Grace Payne and Devlin Jackson Payne also of Lake City, Georgia.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Flora Payne of Lake City, Georgia, and his brother J. Bradford Payne of Valdosta, Georgia.
He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth Payne and husband Robert Wyzykowski, of Lilburn, Georgia, nephew Bradford Payne Wyzykowski, US Navy, his brother Brian Winston Payne, Lake City, Georgia, granddaughters Georgia and Scout of Boca Raton Florida, as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles across the nation.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1pm at A. S. Turner & Sons funeral home with a reception following at the Payne Family Kenyon Road house at Kenyon Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
