As I cross-stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

Words can't express what we're all feeling today as we mark the one year anniversary of this horrendous day. May G-d keep you and your family in his hands and his heart.

We are creating a memorial to the 9-11 victims for display at Rhode Island Hospital. All employees were asked to decorate a card with a victim's name on it. I was given Barry's. Although I never had the pleasure to know him, he now holds a special place in my heart. I too am a lover of cats. I'll keep Barry in my prayers. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
God Bless You All!!

To the Simowitz family:
I am a colleague of Barry's at the Tax Department in Albany. I didn't know him personally, but after reading his portrait in the Times, I felt that in some respect I did. We enjoyed so many of the same things - - a beloved cat, music, the excitement of New York and the thrill of working in the World Trade Center.
It's now more than eight months since September 11th. The tragic events of that day haven't faded. Whenever I think of the innocence of those we lost, an image of Barry listening to music with Wanda June comes to mind. I wish I had known him. It breaks my heart that he and so many like him had their lives so suddenly and cruelly taken away.
I just wanted you to know how sorry I am about the loss of your son and brother. Hopefully, time will ease your pain. I will never forget Barry and will pray for both him and you.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Buckley

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Barry Simowitz Obituary
Of Cats and Cashmere Not every cat is presented with its own futon. But then, not every cat owner is as devoted as Barry Simowitz was to Wanda June, the brown- and-white beauty with whom he shared the last five years. The pair could ... Read Barry Simowitz's Obituary
