This man shared a chance lunch with me at the Milwaukee County Courthouse some years ago. Why this matters is helpful to the faithful memory of the man. We talked about my son and he offered precious views about troubles, choices, and new beginnings. In another place, on a July 4th, we both leaned against a building watching fireworks explode over Hart Park. Small event with smaller import, except he revealed he had done this years ago with his daughter and he was reunited with her. Barry's grateful face blazed like the pyros overhead. There was greatness in this fellow, and wit and blushing candor galore. To me he showed warmth of heart and sheer, limitless giving. Dear God, hold him closely. And dear Slagle family, I miss him profoundly right along with you.
