AUGUSTA — Barry Keith Thomas, 66, of Augusta, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Lizabeth "Talia" (née Miller) Thomas.
He was born in Bracken County on Feb. 15, 1960, to his parents, the late Stanley H. and Doris I. (née McClanahan) Thomas.
Prior to retirement, he worked in coal yard maintenance and was a 36-year employee of East Kentucky Power in Maysville. He was a proud father and grandfather, known to his grandkids as "Papaw Goose". He attended the Faithway Baptist Church in Maysville and was a lifetime member of the N.R.A. A devout Christian, he also worked hard on his farm and was one of the most giving and fun-loving people you could ever meet. He had a big heart and loved his family and friends deeply and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his loving sons, Trevor K. Thomas, Nicholas W. Thomas (Kacey), and Dylan H. Thomas; his brothers, Lynn Thomas (Lisa) and Benny Thomas (Jana); his sisters, Marilyn Smith (Tony), Rita Pospisil (Marvin), and Phyllis Holleran (Danny); his cherished grandchildren, Cody W. Thomas, Jack W. Thomas, Kaylee V. A. Thomas, and Audri E. Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Thomas and Howard Thomas; two sisters, June Lippert and Carol Byrd; his granddaughter, Ashlynn Dawn Thomas; and his sister-in-law, Rosemary Thomas and brother-in-law, Scott Lippert.
The funeral for Barry will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta with Pastor Jeremiah Hanson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Bracken County.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
