Barry Kent Walker was born on September 19, 1957, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Merrill and Patricia (Wiltse) Walker. He grew up in Algona and received his education at Bishop Garrigan High School, graduating with the Class of 1975.
After graduation, Barry began his lifelong career with PDM Bridge in Wausau, Wisconsin. For 45 years, he dedicated himself to the craft of bridge building. This was work he took great pride in and spoke of often. His commitment, strong work ethic, and steady presence earned the respect of many colleagues over the decades.
In his free time, Barry enjoyed quiet moments spent reading or relaxing with a good game on the television. A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, he rarely missed watching his team play. He also loved getting out on the golf course with his brother and friends; even if his swing wasn't always perfect, his humor and good-natured personality made every round memorable.
Barry died on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the home of his daughter in Waukee. He was 68 years old.
He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, and his gentle, easygoing nature that brought comfort to many.
He is survived by his daughters, Jenna King and Kaitlin Walker, and his son, Nicholas Walker; his mother, Pat Walker; and his siblings, Laurie (Don) Luensmann, Brian (Selina) Walker, Angie (Mike) Rooney, Lynne (Joe) Chambers, and Anne (Dean) Magulas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jerry Preuschl, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Merrill Walker, and two sisters, Pamela and Debra.
