Barry Glen Waters, age 67, of
Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born March 28, 1958, in Gardendale, Alabama, Barry was the son of Dorothy Parker Waters and the late James Douglas "J.D." Waters. From an early age, Barry's natural leadership and charisma were unmistakable. He served as president of his high school class, wrestled, and was voted "Big Man on Campus." At Auburn University, he was a proud and active member of the ATO fraternity and went on to earn his degree in business. His calm, gentle spirit and steady presence, paired with his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, endeared him to everyone who knew him and helped shape his long, successful career in sales within the railcar industry before his retirement. Barry was also a deeply involved member of his church and found great joy in volunteering his time in many meaningful ways throughout the years.
After college, Barry met the love of his life, his "Jan," after being set up by friends. The two married and built a meaningful life together for 42 years: one marked by raising four beautiful children with love, laughter, partnership, and unwavering support of each other.
Barry lived a life centered around the people he loved most. He enjoyed biking, camping, hiking, and simply being outdoors, but nothing brought him more joy than his family. Even though his career required frequent travel, his children cannot recall a single time he wasn't there when they needed him. Whether cooking out, preferably with homemade ice cream, celebrating milestones, or just spending time together, Barry was happiest when surrounded by those he cherished.
He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply adored grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was never happier than when he was with them, whether they were playing, exploring and picking blueberries, or simply snuggled up together on the couch. Barry was, in every sense, a true family man.
Barry is survived by his mother, Dorothy Parker Waters; wife, Janet Baskin Waters; daughter and son-in-law, Ashton and Adam Green; sons and daughters-in-law, Luke and Bess Waters, and Logan and Jordan Waters; son, Drew Waters; grandchildren, Nolan Green, Parker Grace Green, Barry Waters, Dot Waters, Garrett Waters, Wayman Waters, and Fletcher Waters; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Carol Waters; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Waters.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Concord United Methodist Church, with Pastor Robert Brown officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
A private family interment will take place in the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Luke Waters, Logan Waters, Drew Waters, Adam Green, Rodney Baskin, Randy Baskin, and Gary Waters serving as pallbearers.
