To be such a brilliant prognosticator ( I speak of looking around corners before reaching them) of the market's vagaries is something very rarely found in the financial world. To be also such a gifted writer as He was required a splendidly unusual equipoise between great pragmatic intellect and the heart of the poet. Barton Biggs was big in all aspects. I have known him for many years.He was a great investment strategist, a very humble, humane and very kind person. He became a great family friend.I will miss him every time I visit New York and he is not there.I loved his investment research.I wish they can be collected and reissued as they are pieces of literature encompassing his great knowledge of markets mixed with historical anecdotes, and his wisdom.

His humility in an industry not known for it, and his almost casual brilliance were striking. Hearing Barton speak on Mondays at our morning research meetings was one of real joys of working at MS. He will be terrible missed.

Barton was a beacon of light in his life, industry, career and to me. I worked with him briefly at Morgan Stanley in NYC many years ago. He was so kind and helpful to me in my career. My condolences to his family, loved ones, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
