Beatrice Pitts of Rochester, New York passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025 at the age of 76. In her final weeks and days Beatrice was surrounded by family and friends. She was

the second youngest of eight children born to George Washington Pitts, Sr. and Annie Pearl Pitts.

In December of 1968 Beatrice started her career path at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a switch board operator for most of her years there. After nearly 45 years of service Beatrice decided to retire in March of 2013 to take care of her ailing mother.

Although Beatrice had no children of her own, she had a big family: seven siblings and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great- nephews, and extended family members. Beatrice enjoyed family gatherings. On holidays she would be in the kitchen preparing dinner with her mother and sister, Mary Anne,

listening to music and singing. Family meant the most to Beatrice; she believed no matter what the circumstances, we should talk and make amends.

Beatrice was preceded in death by: her mother, Annie Pearl Pitts; father, George Washington Pitts Sr.; brothers: Alton Pitts, George Washington Pitts Jr., David (Carol) Pitts, and Bruce Pitts;

sisters, Nancy Pitts and Mary Anne (Wesley) Graham, and also her niece, Salome Washington.

Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory: her brother, Eddie Jay (Renee) Pitts Sr.; sister-in-law, Yolanda Pitts; host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Although Beatrice is no longer with us, there is no doubt she will surely be missed. She left a huge impact on innumerable people. She will be remembered as "the cool" aunt, sister, and mother she was.
