Becky Laughinghouse

On Friday evening, October 31, 2025, Becky Laughinghouse departed this life and went on to glory. Becky was born on October 29, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina. Her dream was to be a wife and mother, and she excelled at those roles. She went to the ends of the Earth for her family, always fiercely fought their corner, and reveled in their accomplishments. But she was a formidable, intelligent, and talented woman in her own right.
Becky served as President, Secretary and Treasurer for a number of clubs throughout her high school years. As a senior, she was voted Miss DAR and Best Personality, and she was chosen to pen a poem for her graduating class. Her wise words seemed precocious even then, but as her time on this planet drew to a close, their meaning grew ever more profound. This is what she wrote:
Far we have searched, and long we have striven, to reach this glorious day.
Eons of time seem to have passed, and yet we know this to be false.
The knowledge of life, its ills and its joys, have been served to us here.
We have drunk, yet not too deeply, of this enlightening drink.
Strange now it seems to leave this place; it's been home to us for so long.
But a greater, more powerful life lies ahead.
Onward we plunge with our arms open wide, hoping to grasp a few of life's prizes.
Time is short now; the commencement bell tolls.
I must take up my part in the never-ending play of life on the imperial stage, the world.
Becky is survived by her daughter, Amy Laughinghouse, and Amy's husband, Scott Warnke; her granddaughter, Kristin Peters, and Kristin's husband, James; her grandson, Chris Carter, and Chris' wife Brandi; and several great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her cherished daughter, Kimberly Noel Carter; her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Laughinghouse; and her dear mother, Cecile Ward Hinnant.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Becky is beyond grief, sadness, and fear-and she is reunited in Heaven with all the loved ones who have passed on before.
We invite family and friends to share in the celebration of Becky's life. The visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 12:00 pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, Georgia, 30040, 770-886-9899. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm.
