Bedford Brooks Castleberry, 86, of De Valls Bluff, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 7. 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bedford and Gracie Lee (Brooks) Castleberry. His wife of 54 years, Patsy Ruth Browning and his wife of 9 years Charlene Matlock Harrison. His sisters, Doris Downs, Charlotte Tipton and Marcia Harrison. His brothers, Clifton (Pete) and Eugene Castleberry. Brooks was born and raised in De Valls Bluff spending countless hours on the White River as the "big" brother of the seven siblings. In May of 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy. They were a young Air Force couple who had their first child, Bronson Brooks in Shreveport, Louisiana, their daughter, Audrey Lee in Victoria, Texas, and then settled back home where their youngest son, Stuart Alan, was born. After Pasty left this earth her dear friend Charlene became a source of companionship for Brooks, and the many years of friendship developed into a loving bond that brought them together in marriage. Brooks was an avid hunter and fisherman. His passion for his hometown resulted in years of service as the Mayor of De Valls Bluff. He was a source of wisdom, strength and love for those that surrounded him not to mention one that could bring comic relief with his slow smile and clever wit.

Brooks left the legacy of his strength, love and family commitment to his children Bronson (Anita) Castleberry, Audrey (Mark)Visconti and Stuart Castleberry, brothers Ray and Gerald, bonus children Jody (Ben) Dierks, Vanessa (Jon) Holcomb, Billy (Tracie) Harrison, Jocelyn (Ryan) Medford, grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

Grave side services are Saturday, May 17 th at 10am at the De Valls Bluff cemetery with a celebration of life immediately following at his home at 35 West Cedar.
