Carlien Parlett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carlien Parlett, a loving mother, and remarkable woman. Carlien passed unexpectedly on January 4, 2026. She was 75 years old.

Carlien's kindness, love, and faithfulness will forever live on in the hearts of her grandchildren, children and family, and in the hearts of the countless other lives she has touched throughout the years.

Carlien was many things to many people. She was a nurse, ordained clergy woman, and a musician. She was a teacher first at Saint Elizabeth in Baltimore where she taught music from 1985 until 1991. She then taught math and science at Saint Claire in Essex from 1993 to 2004. Carlien was the director of Christian Education for Christ Lutheran Church of Baltimore for nearly two decades from 2004-2020.

Carlien is survived by her three beloved grandchildren, Connor, Penny, and Nora. Her daughter, Jennifer Sturniolo, and her husband, Greg. Her son, Shawn Parlett, and his wife Jasmine. Her son, David Merritt, and his wife Kara. And her cherished, best friend Judy Merritt.

Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church of Baltimore. 701 S. Charles St., Baltimore, MD on January 10, 2026 at 10 AM.
