Ben Yip Lin

Ben Yip Lin, a man of profound kindness and remarkable handiness, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Westmont, Illinois. Born on November 7, 1949, in Zhangzhou, China, Ben's journey through life was marked by his thoughtful nature, gentle spirit, and his ability to bring comfort and joy to those around him.

Ben was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose life reflected quiet service and constant generosity. He is survived by his wife, Aiping Lin; his children, Jesse and Joyce Lin; and his siblings Timothy, Mow-Soon, Wensen, Wenlim, Pearl, and Charlie. Known as the "fun uncle," Ben delighted in spending time with his nieces and nephews, sharing laughter, treats, and playful moments that left lasting memories.

Ben's talents were many, but he was especially known for his skill in woodworking and his ability to fix nearly anything. His hands were rarely still, and it seemed that at some point he had repaired, built, or improved something in nearly every home within his church community. His craftsmanship and generosity left lasting marks, both seen and unseen.

A dedicated member of the Chinese Christian Mandarin Church in Willowbrook, Ben faithfully served his church family for decades. For nearly forty years, he created beautiful floral arrangements that brightened worship services. He was also a cherished member of the choir, lifting spirits with his warm and harmonious singing.

Those who knew Ben often spoke of his bright, youthful smile - a smile that remained even through life's challenges. Caregivers and friends alike remarked on his patience, gratitude, and gentle humor; even during medical treatments, he was remembered as someone who rarely complained and who brought warmth to those caring for him.

Ben had a special way with both children and animals. He found joy in simple acts of kindness - handing out candy to kids, treats to dogs, and sharing moments of playfulness that made people feel welcomed and loved.

Ben's legacy is one of kindness, thoughtfulness, humor, and steady care for others. Through countless quiet acts of service - and through the small gestures, smiles, and winks that brightened everyday moments - he strengthened the lives of those around him and leaves behind memories that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
