Benjamin Skinner Harvin

BENJAMIN HARVIN Benjamin Skinner Harvin, 85, resident of 509 Trakas Ave., husband of Hilda Pruitt Harvin, died September 14, 2013 at Hospice House. Born July 6, 1928 in Summerton, SC, he was a son of the late Percy B. and Susan Jones Harvin. He was a US Army Veteran of WW II and later served in the Merchant Marine. He was retired as a sales representative from T.E. Jones & Sons Furniture Co. Mr. Harvin was a member and former deacon of Hodges Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Cynthia H. "Cindy" and husband Julius "Butch" Hoffman of West Columbia; a sister, Emily H. Grier of Huntersville, NC; a grandson, John H. "Jay" Warner, III of Eastover, SC; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary H. Casteen and three brothers, Percy B. Harvin, Jr., Thomas H. Harvin and Robert J. Harvin. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Piephoff and Rev. Joel Kelly officiating. The family is at the home on Trakas Ave. and will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
