Benjamin Davis "Benny" Jones

BENJAMIN DAVIS "BENNY" JONES, age 75 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Friday afternoon, September 14, 2012 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, WV. He was born Monday, October 19, 1936 at Belington a son of the late Virgil and Dora Jones. He was married to the former Alfreda Jean Howell, who survives. Also surviving are one granddaughter, Emily Jones Phillips, Elkins; four great grandchildren, Isaac Michael; Tyler Michael; Carleigh Brooke; and Brynna Rae Phillips; one sister Mildred Spencer, Barberton, OH; one brother-in-law Carroll Barrickman, Barberton, OH one sister-in-law Eyvonne Howell of Elkins; one niece Della D. Phillips and husband Gary of Elkins; two nephews Daniel William Howell and wife Annie; Earnest Todd Howell, both of Elkins; one Half Brother Howard Price of Tennessee; Preceding him in death are one son, Roger Ray Jones and one great grandson, Eli Michael Phillips and one sister Laverna Barrickman. He attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of The University of Hard Knocks with the Class of 1991. He was the manager of Twin Cinema's in Elkins along with working at Elkins IGA and will be fondly remembered for his smile from behind the counter at Wilfong's Market for over 40 years. Benny had a passion for people and loved to talk. After his retirement from working as a grocery clerk he began working for Mountain State Transport taking people to and from medical appointments and workshops in the area for 9 years. The family will receive at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, from 5 to 8 PM. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Friday, September 21, 2012 at 12:30 PM. The Rev. Barry R. Moll and the Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens at Elkins.
