Benjamin Rivers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 19, 2025.
Benjamin D. (Big Ben) Rivers left this earthly world on November 17, 2025, to take his place beside his savior whom he served all his life. Ben had accepted Jesus as his savior in when he was 13 years old in December of 1989. Ben was a bicentennial baby, born on February 9, 1976, to the late Diane S. (Muir) Rivers and David R. Rivers. Ben was the husband of Carrie (Thompson) Rivers for 18 years.

Ben graduated from Butler High School in 1995. He went on to graduate from Northwestern Trade School in Lima, Ohio in 1997, where he studied Diesel Mechanics. Ben worked for Butler Color Press in Butler, PA and Traco Window in Cranberry, PA. After obtaining his CDL, Ben drove over road trucks for USA Truck as well as Prime and Knight Trucking over the next 15 years. Ben decided to get off the road and after a brief stint at a pallet repair shop, he found the job he was meant for at Tyson Foods as Pollution Control Officer.

Ben and his wife Carrie recently moved to their dream home and were able to travel and enjoy retirement until he had to go to hospice.

Ben is survived by his wife, Carrie Rivers of Garfield; father, David Rivers and his wife, Sharon of Marienville, PA; brother, Jason Rivers of Butler, PA; son, Skyler Plunkard of Herman, PA; brothers-in-law, George Thompson (Donna) and Ed Thompson; sister-in-law, Betsy Schooler (George Robin); step-son, Albert Thompson; step-daughter, Annell Roley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Rogers Seventh-Day Adventist Church where services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025. Visitation will start at 10:30 until service time at 11:30.

A celebration of Ben's life will be, per Ben's request, in the Spring at Morane State Park in Pennsylvania. Time to be announced at a later date.
