Benjamin A. Sekator Jr.

Benjamin "Ricky" Alfred Sekator Jr., 71, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully at South County Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Born in South Kingstown on August 20, 1954, he was the loving son of the late Benjamin A. Sekator Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Taylor) Sekator. Along with his parents, he was a proud member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe.

Benjamin graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1973. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he studied agricultural science. He also served in the United States Air Force, being honorably discharged in 1983.

Benjanim spent 40+ years in the lawn care/turf industry. He started his career in 1983 as a lawn care technician for Tuckahoe Lawn Care, before moving to turf farming. He worked for Tee & Green Sod, New England Turf, and finally as the farm manager of Sodco, Inc. before retiring in late 2024. Many of his co-workers became dear, lifelong friends.

Benjamin leaves behind his beloved son and daughter, Benjamin K. Sekator and Lauren E. Sekator, and their mother, Donna Sekator. He is also survived by his siblings, Joanne Carosella, Robert Sekator, and Cindy Mosby; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother,Thomas Sekator.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 28th from 10-12 pm with a prayer service immediately following at 12 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI 02879.
