Benjamin Harrison Smith

Benjamin "Benny" Harrison Smith Jr., age 55, of Ramseur passed away December 20, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at his home. He was born May 31, 1970 in Alamance County, North Carolina the son of Frances Bloom Smith and the late Benjamin Harrison Smith Sr.

Benny has finally installed his last carpet and hung up his tool belt, leaving us with seamless memories and a few chuckles along the way. A true artist in the realm of flooring, Benny crafted impeccable designs at Joe Jarvis Carpets and Davis Carpets, where he could make even the most stubborn seam vanish. When he wasn't busy weaving perfection into the floors beneath our feet, Benny could be found with a fishing rod in hand, enjoying the salty air at Oak Island or Carolina Beach. He was a man who knew the value of a good catch and an even better margarita, often seen holding one while shooting pool or enjoying a cold beer. Benny's talents didn't end with flooring; his hands were gifted in fixing things around the house and creating masterpieces from wood. Yet, it was his time with family, his beloved dogs, and especially his cherished grandson that truly brought him joy. His sharp sense of humor, infectious smile, and outgoing nature made Benny a friend to many and a stranger to none. Though he's left us to cast his line in the big ocean above, his legacy will linger like a perfectly laid carpet-smooth, enduring, and full of warmth.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Melody Jordan Smith; children, Samuel Chance Hollis, Paul Chase Smith and Victoria Rose Jordan; grandchild, Jordan Samuel Lackey; brother, Joshua Neal Smith; sister, Candy Ann Beasley; nephews, Brandon Beasley, Nicholas Barley, Noah Carter, and Neal Carter; nieces, Rachel Barley and Nevaeh Carter; cousin, Elizabeth Thompson; all of his beloved pets; and numerous other beloved family and friends.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
