Benjamin Lee Tyler, Sr., 67, of Macon, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. Born on July 11, 1958, in Mississippi, Benjamin lived a life defined by creativity, resilience, and quiet strength.
Born deaf, Benjamin never let that stand in the way of his boundless curiosity and determination. He graduated from the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, Georgia, Class of 1978. He went on to build a lifelong career designing and creating neon signs-transforming glass and light into art that brightened communities and lives alike. His hands were always at work, crafting beauty in ways few could match.
Benjamin had a deep love for animals, especially cats, who were his constant companions and a great source of joy throughout his life. He also had a passion for travel, exploring new places and experiencing the world's beauty firsthand. He loved history and kept up with current events, always eager to learn and share what he discovered. The beach was one of his favorite places, offering him peace and reflection, and he held a special fondness for the city of New Orleans-its rich history and bright lights resonated deeply with him.
His gentle nature and kind heart left an impression on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his son, Benjamin "Lee" Tyler, Jr. (Danielle); daughters, Belinda (Craig) Tyler-Morris, Crystal (David) Tyler-Payne, and Charisse (Andrew) Nyhuis; sister, Paula (Charles) Thornton; grandchildren, Dallas, Tyler, and Lily; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sonny Tyler; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Bill Crusselle; and his beloved son, Justin Tyler.
Benjamin saw the world through a lens of light and wonder, finding beauty in even the smallest details. His warmth, humor, and compassion touched everyone around him, and his memory will continue to inspire and brighten the lives he leaves behind.
The memorial service to celebrate the life of Benjamin will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00pm until time of service at the funeral home.
