Alvin Bennett Anderson, Jr. quietly passed away Monday, November 15, 2021. Causes were incident to age.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Southwick Anderson; their four children, Ralph (Laura), Becky (Gaylen), Kyle (Christa), Jillyn (Peter); 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; brother, Burton and sisters, Melba Bodily, Margaret Henstra and Connie Shipp.
Bennett was born in Ogden, Utah and grew up in what was then known as Kanesville. He spent his time on the family farm milking cows and raising crops.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawaii, after which he married his lovely sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple on May 27, 1957. They lived on the family farm in Kanesville for 17 years before moving to Raft River, Idaho for one year. After Raft River, they lived the next ten years in Crescent Valley, Nevada. While in Idaho and Nevada he farmed with his brothers, Burton and Harold. In 1985, Bennett moved his family to Jerome, Idaho, where he farmed with his sons for the next 33 years.
Family, hard work, and service in the church were the hallmarks of his life. He served as a counselor in the bishopric, as a stake missionary, in various Young Men callings, as Sunday School president, bishop, stake high council, High Priest group leader and in the stake mission presidency.
His favorite calling of all time was as a missionary, and he loved to share the Gospel with everyone he met. He was persistent to a fault, but made many life-long friends through his fellowshipping.
Bennett was a dedicated father and husband. He loved hard work, loved to tease, and loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Olive Bluff Ward, 4700 West 3350 South, West Haven. The family will meet with friends Monday from 12 to 1:30 at the church.
