Bennie A. Tino, loving father, husband and grandfather, left this world to join his Heavenly family on May 5, 2025. Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anita (Basti), his children, Nick (Stacy) Denver, CO, Bennie (Ursula) Chicago, IL, Christian, NY, NY and his grandchildren Domenica and Adriano also of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Patrick (Vicky), and a sister and brother-in-law Marlene (Eddie), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Bennie and Lena (Morello) and sister Marie Shuba.
Bennie was born October 1, 1946 in Binghamton, NY and would go on to raise his family here and proudly call this fine city home for the entirety of his life, never once complaining about the weather.
After 18 years of service, he retired from the NYS Dept of Labor but continued to work until his final days. Those who knew him best are certain that if he lived for another 100 years he would have continued working, happily. He never once had a complaint, grievance or grudge and those who were lucky enough to know him would be happily blessed with his good-natured humor and his masterful skill of conversation. His priority, beyond his work, was travelling to visit his family, particularly his grandchildren whom he loved and adored beyond words. He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, a good meal shared with family, travelling whenever possible and enjoying each day as it came. What many of us may consider a terrible day, he would call a good day, as he believed each day is a gift from God. Whether you knew him as Bennie, Dad or Mr. T, he was a patient listener who was always ready to offer advice and share his abundant fountain of wisdom to make your day a little brighter. His advice, optimism and wonderful humor will be missed immensely. He had a way of enriching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Bennie was a deeply faithful man who genuinely lived his life based on the principles of his Savior. He was a man who scrupulously and thoroughly lived each day of his life in accordance with his faith and the teachings of Christ. If there is a precheck line at the pearly gates, he'll certainly be approved.
In short, his was a life well lived. He will be missed.
The family wishes to extend a special debt of gratitude to Dr Michael Barrett, Gina Guthrie, RN and the staff at Guthrie Medical, Sayre, PA for their exceptional care, but especially their support and genuine kindness through our most difficult days.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at St Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. The mass will be at 10:30 with visitation one hour prior starting at 9:30 also to be held in the church. Donations in his memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Broome County 232 Main Street Binghamton 13905
