Benton Wayne Mitchell

Benton Wayne Mitchell, age 55, of Springfield, MO passed away on July 4, 2023, at Cox South Hospital. Ben was born to Guy Mitchell and Rebecca Jane (Killingsworth) Mitchell on January 28, 1968, in Springfield, MO and was raised, along with his brother Randy Mitchell, in Willard, MO. Ben graduated from Willard High school and graduated from Drury University after spending a couple years at Missouri State University. In 2000 Ben welcomed his only child, daughter Kelsie (Mitchell) Parrish. Ben is preceded in death by his father, Guy and survived by daughter, Kelsie; mother, Jane; and brother, Randy.
Ben worked for most of his life in business and finance. He started in banking and went on to spend most of his career working for a property management company in Springfield. In his last few years, Ben enjoyed working as a substitute teacher and would have loved to keep teaching.
In his younger years, Ben was known for playing high school football and playing the trombone in the Willard High and Missouri State University bands. In his adult life, Ben enjoyed playing golf with his father, brother, and friends. He liked attending St. Louis Cardinal's games with his daughter and would watch any and every team play sports ranging from golf to football. Most of all, Ben loved spending time with his daughter who he called his princess and with whom he shared a close relationship. He will be deeply missed by her and by all who loved him.
A memorial service for Ben will be held Saturday July 15, 2023, at 1:00pm at Green Lawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, MO with a burial to follow at the Green Lawn cemetery.
