Bernadette R. Sosovicka

1934 - 2025

Bernadette R. Sosovicka, 91, of Springdale, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, with family by her side. A lifelong resident of the area, she was born on June 27, 1934, to Frank and Hattie (Zaleski) Rozpierski in New Kensington and graduated from New Kensington High School before working in Accounts Payable at PPG in Springdale. Bernie was best known for being a meticulous homemaker and talented baker, with a renowned specialty in nut rolls. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping with her best friend and following all of the Pittsburgh sports teams. As a former parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale, she was involved in the Catholic Daughters of America and more recently became a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington. Bernadette was predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Sosovicka; granddaughter, Laura Sosovicka; brother, Emanuel Rozpierski; and BFF, Rose DeSantis. Survivors include sons, David (Janet) Sosovicka and Mark (Lynn) Sosovicka; granddaughter, Leslie (Rob) Bock; great-grandchildren, Trevor and Camille Bock; and sister, Constance Rospierski. The family wishes to thank her many wonderful friends and neighbors, especially Janeane Tabaka, Cathy Moretti, and Gina Namey. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Christian funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, 857 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, 15068, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
