Bernadine Glenda Metzger, 100, of Decatur passed away November 3, 2025 at Pana Health And Rehab.
She was born April 1, 1925 in Pana to the late Clarence Hinton & Cecillia (Rever) Hinton.
Bernadine is survived by nephews: Phillip, from Atlantic Beach, Fla., Gregory, from Branson, Mo. and David, from Pana, Ill. A sister, June and niece, Christine preceded her in death.
Bernadine graduated from the University of Illinois and Millikin University with degrees in elementary education. Bernadine served the Decatur, Ill. school system with over 30 years of service to the youth of the area. Upon retiring from the Decatur school system she taught religious education at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit, Catholic Church, Mt. Zion, Ill. for 30 years.
Visitation will be held at St.Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Decatur, Illinois at 10 a.m. with funeral mass following at 11 a.m. Burial will be held after the mass at Mt. Zion Public Cemetery, Mt.Zion, Ill.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, Decatur, Ill.
