My name is Priscilla Parks. I studied voice with Mss Oliphant back in the 1990's. She was such a wondeful singing teacher. She taught me technique that sustains my voice today. I moved away and hoped to visit with her again. Blessings to her family. She was a God-sent gift to me. Wonderful person with a great sense of humor.

Bernidine Oliphint was my dear friend and neighbor in Huntsville, Texas. She was the Guest Speaker for the Roxie Douglas Scholarship Foundation on more than one occasion. Bernidine was one of the Greatest Black Opera Singers in the world. She will be dearly missed.

My heart is heavy at learning of the passing of Bernadine, my dear friend and colleague. It is because of her that I took the position at Texas Southern 35 years ago. Her untiring giving of self to faculty and students alike was a gift that will be cherished by so many she touched. My prayers are with her family at this time. She will be missed.
