Bernard Barnes Jr.

Bernard "Bill" Barnes, Jr., 81, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on January 11, 2009. He was born on April 15, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois to Bernard Barnes, Sr. and Mable Larson Barnes. Bill was married to Dawn (Peterson) Barnes on September 17, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois. They have lived in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Arizona. He was an electrical engineer at Woodward Governor and after retirement, owned Mountain State Electronics in Ft. Collins, Colorado for 9 years. He loved hand carving and was a member of the National Woodworkers Association. He liked camping, hiking and 4 wheeling. Bill traveled a good deal for business and pleasure and took lots of photos which Dawn used for her art. He was a volunteer driver for senior services. He and Dawn were a host family for international students from CSU. Bill served in the Navy in WWII. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Barnes of Loveland, Colorado; son, Jeffrey Barnes (Sandra Pauer) of Loveland, Colorado; daughter, Terry Bowers (Sharon Hamman) of Evanston, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Christina (Chris) Pearson of Thornton, Colorado, Jennifer Bowers, Kelsey Barnes, Rebecca Cook, Gregory Barnes all of Loveland, Colorado, Collin Barnes of Michigan; and 3 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Ann. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Allnutt Hunter Chapel.
