Bernard "Bernie" D. Matelski

Bernard D. Matelski, of Vanderbilt, Michigan, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on November 8, 1949, in Clifford, Michigan, to Bernard Matelski and Delores O’Rourke.

Bernard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Barb Matelski; his children Karen (Ben) Meden, Kassie Matelski, and Aaron (Nicole) Matelski; his “surrogate daughter,” Cassie; his nine beloved grandchildren who were the light of his life; his brothers and sisters, Patsy Lever, Tom (Marcia) Matelski, Marcus (Sandy) Matelski, Dave (Cindy) Matelski, and Karen (Brian) Matelski. 

A true outdoorsman at heart, Bernard cherished hunting trips, mushroom hunting in the woods, and peaceful rides through the Pigeon. He was happiest with grease on his hands, working on cars or cheering on his favorite drivers during NASCAR Sundays. His laugh, his stories, and his steady presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Bernard’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the traditions he passed down, and the countless memories shared over the years.

The family has chosen to remember Bernie privately.
