Bernard Josef Ofczarzak aka Bernie was born in Houston March 5, 1965, to Alexis and Bernard Ofczarzak. First born of four children, Bernie was raised in the city of Houston, Texas. He was educated in knowledge and spirituality at the wonderful schools of St. Christopher’s elementary then Mt. Carmel High school and onto St. Mary Seminary and St. Thomas University. He loved the pursuit of knowledge and never stopped learning. He was fluent in English, Spanish, some Greek, Latin and Czech.
Bernie had a career with many adventures. After leaving the Seminary he became the proprietor of Koehler’s Korner where he mastered Dominos and solved the problems of this world. He returned to Houston and took a teaching position at St. Christopher and later at Mt. Carmel. He taught English, History and Coached football. He loved sports. Over his lifetime he umpired baseball at different levels and officiated football. Later he took an ESL position and traveled to teach in Prague in the Czech Republic. Returning to the states he settled back in Somerville Texas where he took a position at Sanderson Farms and later LF Manufacturing in Giddings Texas where he managed Safety in the Plant. Time later moved Bernie onto his most recent adventure in Logistics and Security. He was always a leader.
Bernie most of all was a Man of God and Family. He loved his Family and Friends to his Core. His outrageous spirit was shared with so many leaving great memories and funny stories. He loved music, cooking, plants, animals, travel (Ireland) and this land we have been given. These things brought joy to his life.
Bernie Josef Ofczarzak is proceeded in death by his father Bernard Jimmy Ofczarzak. He leaves behind his mother Alexis Keirnan Ofczarzak, his brother and sister-in-law Ben and Ava Ofczarzak, his sister and brother-in-law Annie and Tom O’Shea, his sister and brother-in-law Marcella Ofczarzak and Richard Pattillo, as well as 6 nephews, nieces, bonus nephews and nieces, one grandniece and one grandnephew.
Bernie will be missed by all who knew him.
