Bernard Crescione Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Services Inc. on Feb. 22, 2026.
Bernard J. Crescione (Bernie) of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2026 at the grand age of 94.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late John and Sarah Crescione. Life then took the family to Easthampton, Mass. where Bernie graduated from high school. In his early 20's Bernie very proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He often told the story of how every 4th man in the enlistment line was told they would be a Marine. There was no choice involved. And How he loved telling his Marine stories!

After the service and back in Brooklyn Bernie married his first wife Randi, became a union carpenter both in New York and New Jersey where he worked while raising their young family and then continued into retirement.

One very notable event was in 1962 when Bernie went bow hunting for deer in Westchester, NY (with little to no experience) and bagged a 16 point buck and had to drag it miles back to the car! He was so proud to be entered into the Pope & Young registry of prized bow captures of big game. His story telling of the whole adventure was priceless!

Throughout his married life Bernie built 4 homes of which he was very proud .He mostly loved Sebastian, Florida and his little fishing boat on which he would regularly be found fishing on the Sebastian River...a very fond memory of his grandson Victor. He loved fishing, visits by the grandchildren, playing cribbage and gin rummy, and playing the piano. He was very proud of being ''self taught''. His favorite line was ''let me play you a little tune''. Bernie loved telling a good joke. His jokes are legendary and often led to a good belly-laugh.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene Crescione, 3 loving children: Susan Knox, John Crescione, Lisa Ezeir with son-in-law Felix Ezeir. Also stepson Timothy Rourke and brother Anthony Crescione. Additionally his grandchildren Victor, Justine, Jason, Kristy, Tina, Lisa, John and Taylor as well as 16 great grandchildren. These ''grands'' and ''greats'' were his pride and joy. This father and ''PopPop'' was the true patriarch of this beautiful family and will forever be deeply missed.

Visitation followed by memorial service to be held on Sunday March 8th from 11am - 1pm at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals.111 Main St. Matawan, NJ

PLEASE NOTE: IN LIEU OF FLOWERS..memorial donations may be made to K9's FOR WARRIORS..training and providing service dogs for disabled and PTSD veterans. Bernie loved his shepherds in his younger days and his beagles later in life.
