Bernard M. D'Auteuil (Bernie) 66, died unexpectedly at home on Feb. 27, 2023, with his best friend, dog Marilyn by his side. Born on Oct. 8, 1956 in Willimantic, he was the son Joseph B. and Helen W. D'Auteuil. He was a graduate of Windham High School. During high school he worked at the Willimantic Stop & Shop in the meat department. Upon graduating he volunteered to join the U. S. Air Force, and retired in May 1997 with the rank of TECH SGT, after serving more than 20 years. His speciality was Security Police. He was very proud of his service and was supportive of fellow Veterans. After his retirement he returned to Willimantic and worked at Bacon Funeral Home.
He was predeceased by his parents and his two older brothers, Mark and Pierre, sister-in-law Sheila, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his dog Marilyn, several cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Friday March 10, 2023 at St. Mary Church 46 Valley St., Willimantic, CT 06226. (Family will greet attendees at St. Mary's at 9:30 AM). Burial, with Military Honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 134 Club Road, Willimantic, Ct 06226.
